Coming up with a list of the top 100 best comedy movies of all time was no easy task. Just the last decade alone has produced scores of uproariously funny movies. However, filmmakers haven’t only recently begun to make moviegoers laugh. For close to a century comedies have been a staple in Hollywood. I tried to balance my list between contemporary stuff without forgetting about the legendary films that made the industry what it is today. 2008 was a banner year for funny movies, and when I came up with this list of the top 5 funniest movies of 2008 I found myself leaving off some genuine comedic gems in order to whittle the list down. Writer/director Judd Apatow again had his fingerprints on some of the funniest movies of the year, as he continued his reign as the ranking king of comedy movies.
